We are SO glad we made it today! Here's the story- the border crossing is not open 24 hours like most of the ones that are more widely traveled. In the books and on the internet is lists the station as being open from 8 am - 8 pm Alaska time. We stopped for lunch in Tok and thought we had plenty of time to do the 100 miles of slow scenic road and still make it in time. When we turned onto the Top of the World Highway there was a small sign that showed the crossing open from 8 am - 6 pm. That changed things. If we missed it we would have been stuck until tomorrow morning. We did little stopping (a quick one in Chicken and one bathroom stop) and pulled up to the border at 5:45. We chatted with the nice Canadian Border Patrol agent, answered all her questions and asked when they closed. Her answer, "In about 15 minutes!"
