Our deepest gratitude to the northernmost hosts of the Maule Family adventure! They housed and fed and entertained us as we explored the land of the midnight sun. It started smoky with wildfires in every direction and ended with several days of much needed rain. Jeanne and Shane are amazing hosts with so many great tales of Alaska, flying, and gold mining. When we arrived Shane was flying back and forth between Fairbanks and the mine. The rain grounded him so we got to visit. We were fortunate to spend an evening with Shane’s parents who have lived in Fairbanks since the early 1970’s. Jeanne and Shane graciously offered the girls use of “white lightning” (the kids car) so they could go to the movies and shopping. The girls were eager to be on their own! It was a great stop and we are ready to embark on the long journey towards home.
