They raise Wood Bison at the park. They are related to, but not the same as the bison we see in Colorado and even the ones in Canada. These are bred here and then some are sent to herds elsewhere to grow to population and keep the numbers in check. The babies are fun to watch!
The mom was not very happy that we were so close. (No zoom on this photo!) She bumped the fence and sent me running- Jim didn't flinch!
